My Boss Messed Up & Now I Have More Work to Do

Don't you just love getting more work to do all because your boss embarrassed themselves to higher leadership? I DON'T! I shouldn't have to create a whole PIP on how to do my job cause my boss can't, even though they should be able to!

I'm gonna rant and whine so I'm soooorrry if this isn't the post you want this week, but tough it's my blog (so suck it) (but thank you for reading).

Got pulled into a meeting with my other coworkers and our boss told us that, long story short, due to them messing up a whole bunch with their laptop, trying to run a meeting, and basically not bothering to prepare first before hand, they embarrassed themselves in front of our boss's boss and looked like a fool. I feel like it was karma for them talking and giggling to another coworker when we were celebrating someone's 5 year anniversary so kinda well deserved. But, because of this they want us to all make a detailed, how-to, with pictures, statement of work for each of our departments so this doesn't happen to anyone (a.k.a, they don't embarrass themselves again).

To me, the best part of the whole story is that the person our boss was covering for, HAD THIS ON THEIR CALENDAR. THE MEETING WITH THE BIG BOSS WAS ON THEIR CALENDAR. WE HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYONE'S CALENDARS. You ALWAYS check the calendar of the person you are covering for, see what they have planned for the day or the days they will be gone! Also talk to the person before hand damn it, don't just leave this for the last minute. I get that they may have had a busy schedule, but Jesus Christ how do you not know what your employees due every day of the week? Like just a BASIC understanding. This kind of stuff makes me question how they got this job in the first place, like who thought you would be a good pick? I'm not saying I would be perfect, I mess up or get flustered something (quite alot), but I make sure to go over everything with the person BEFORE they leave.

Ok rant done, I needed to cause I thought it was insane/kinda stupid that my boss didn't to do the common sense of tagging up and reviewing cadences and it was driving me crazy.
